GED Graduate, Student Recognition Ceremony 2009 |
Where would you be without your education? Whether you have a high school diploma or a doctoral degree, would you have the job or life experiences that you have now. Outside of having a degree on your wall, think about how much having an education affects the everyday tasks we take for granted. You are able to write grocery lists, read the newspaper, and comfortably navigate in society.
We asked LAI students, staff and members of our community "what is an education worth to you" and this is what they said:
"Education is power. It helps us to be active members of our society, to think critically, and overcome challenges. Since education is so useful in our daily lives and the functioning of society as a whole, I think everyone should be allowed equal access to quality education. "
"It is a door to a higher expression of rational thought, reason and creativity!"
"Education means being apart of the norm, not being seen as an outcast or as being dumb."
"It means not being taken advantage of. Knowing how to maneuver in life."
"Education is life! You can't function at the capacity of a productive citizen without it. It opens doors!"
"Having a better job and more KNOWLEDGE!"
SO TELL US...
WHAT IS AN EDUCATION WORTH TO YOU?
Is an education worth $1.00, $10.00, or $100.00? For every $1.00 spent on adult education, $33.00 is returned to the community. That means more productive citizens, a stronger work base and an end to the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy.
Is an education worth your dollar?
